Yeah it's just as it sounds. It seems that maybe games journalism (whatever the hell that means to you) may be my calling in life.
You guys aren't aware of it, but over 2 months ago, I applied and got accepted to write on a website called Sidelinesapp.com
Basically the site is considered a portfolio site, that works on getting your skills better so you can eventually get a job in the field of web journalism, wether it be for games, movies, sports you name it. So I wrote about 2 editorials now, and eventually plan on more, but after those 2 were published on the site, they got a great amount of attention, and dozens of publishers on the net linked to those articles of mine, which I feel spoke volume on my ability. Now of course I'm not letting that go to my head, as I still have a lot to learn about writing, but after those articles got the attention they did, I decided to actually apply for games journalism positions.
Eventually, a few days ago, a website called GamesFTW
, hit me up and said they liked my articles that I sent into them, and that they would like me to write for their site for a month to see if I was a good fit.
Long story short, I am now writing for a games website. Which is a very exciting prospect, as I really love videogames, and I always hoped I would get in the field somehow, and now it seems that's where my life is headed.
Of course what does this mean about my art. Well honestly at this point I don't know.
I mean I do have aspirations for greater things down the road for my art, but at the same time, things change, and it is possible my hobby will stay a hobby...who knows.
But no matter what happens, I still love art, an I'm still going to do art, but now I just have to re-arrange my priorities, as gaming journalism is something that I will have to take more seriously if I want to make a career out of it.
So we'll just see. For now. I'm just in for the ride, and I'll see where this train takes me.
